Scholarship Application

The Ralph G. Norman scholarship fund was established to provide assistance to young adults with learning disabilities so they may pursue higher education. This scholarship is available to current residents of Arkansas only. This scholarship is for students who are ineligible for SSI or SSD funding.
Four $2,500 Ralph G. Norman scholarships are awarded by LDAA annually.
Congratulations to the 2010 Ralph G. Norman Scholarship Recipients:
Clinton Brown, 18, Lake City, Ark. Brown plans to pursue a degree in nursing with special emphasis in the field of oncology. He stated that he was inspired to pursue a career in healthcare following the death of his mother due to heart disease.
Ebony Brown, 18, Batesville, Ark. Brown's dream is to attend the University of Central Arkansas and obtain a degree in human services so that she may one day achieve her ultimate career goal of becoming a mortician.
James Jones, 18, Warren, Ark. Jones has been accepted to Nashville Auto-Diesel College in Nashville, Tenn., and begins coursework in electrical systems, automatic transmissions and preventive maintenance this month. He plans to graduate with a major in automotive, specializing in diesel technology.
Ethan Mulherin,
18, Pangburn, Ark. Mulherin will pursue an associate’s degree in auto
body repair at Arkansas State University this fall. His career goal is
to be an auto body technician and own his own business someday.
Scholarship applications are due by April 1, 2011 and become the property of LDAA. Look for information regarding 2011 applications soon. Send completed applications to:

Please include the following information:
1. Scholarship Application Form
2. Documentation of your disability by two of the following:
a. A copy of professional evaluation
b. A copy of your school IEP
c. A letter from a qualified professional certifying your learning disability (special educator, psychologist or psychological examiner.)
3. A two-paragraph statement of your future educational or career goals.
4. Official transcript of all high school and/or college courses.
5. Two letters of recommendation from two adults that can testify to your academic abilities, personal character, volunteer services and community involvement. These letters should be from a teacher, coach, counselor or community member – not a relative.
