DoubleTree Little Rock

Keynote Speaker Rick LaVoie

Featuring The Motivation Breakthrough: 6 Secrets to Turning on the Tuned-Out Child by Rick Lavoie, M.A., M.Ed.

Every learning theory from Maslow to Gardner has motivation as its initial and fundamental step. Few teachers, however, have a repertoire of effective motivational strategies and techniques. In the classroom we tend to use a "one size fits all" approach by attempting to motivate all students with one single reward system, star chart or grading policy. This seminar presents an innovative and field-tested model that enables teachers to better understand and foster student motivation at all grade levels. Explore common misconceptions and ineffective strategies related to student motivation as well as specific approaches and strategies that maintain student motivation throughout the school year.

Richard “Rick” LaVoie, keynote speaker, is author of “The Motivation Breakthrough: 6 Secrets to Turning On the Tuned-Out Child” and creator of “How Difficult Can This Be: The F.A.T.City Workshop.” LaVoie, a special educator with more than 30 years administrative experience, has served as a learning disabilities consultant to several agencies and organizations, including the National Center for Learning Disabilities and Girl Scouts of America. He regularly shares his special education philosophies through speaking engagements, media appearances, video and his podcast, “Tales From the Road.”
